Effect of Piroxicam(Feldene^(®)) in Dysmenorrhea

Abstract
|
|
|
Piroxicam was given to the thirty women from 17 to 33 years of age to study its effect for the relief of primary dysmenorrhea. Two capsules of 20mg piroxicam were given each morning for the first 2 days, one capsule each morning on two consequent days, and total amount was 120mg. As the above method, we have observed for 3 menstrual cycles.
The results are as follows:
1. Its revealed significant efficacy of the drug in controlling the dysmenorrhea.
2. It´s effectiveness showed marked effectiveness is 17 women (56.7%)moderate effectiveness is 13 women (43.3%)
3. Side effect of the drug was unremarkable except 2 cases of mild epigastric discomfort.
